23rd INTERPOL Asian Regional Conference concludes in Capital

Kathmandu, Jan 20: The 23rd Asian Regional Conference of International Police Organization (INTERPOL) has concluded issuing the five-point Kathmandu declarations. The regional conference had begun on Wednesday.
The three-day conference organized by the Nepal Police concluded issuing five-point declaration and preparing INTERPOL strategy 2017-2020.
Similarly the conference agreed on collecting information to tackle common crime issues such as terrorism, human trafficking, border security and cybercrime. The participants had held discussions on various burning issues like, human trafficking, united crimes, border security issues, trans-border crimes, terrorism, and wild animal poaching among others.
While delivering the speech at the concluding ceremony Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi said that the conference remained fruitful adding that Nepal was eager to work together for combating trans-border crimes and its challenges among others.
He stressed on the effective enforcement of laws to fight multi dimensional crime-related challenges saying that co-work among the Asian countries was essential.
Similarly, Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi said that the success of police organization was the success of the country.
Inspector General of Police Upendra Kanta Aryal said that there was no such effective mechanism for police to exchange the information and discuss on it.
As many as 136 law enforcement officials and heads of police from various 36 Asian member-states of INTERPOL had attended the conference.
It may be noted that Nepal had organized such 10th conference 27 years ago.
The next conference will be organized in Iran after two years. RSS
